- Do I fill out this roadmap from where I am or where I want to be?
The Roadmap is designed to assess your current state. Answer the questions from the perspective of where you are right now.
- I don’t think I’m an entrepreneur - should I even bother filling it out?
Give it a try! We’ve had a number of “intrapreneurs” gain great value from our course offerings. You might try filling it out from the perspective of your current job or area of work, and see what you discover. It might provide a very interesting new perspective for you on what you are doing. And where you’d like to go.
- Do I need to get all my ducks in a row before I have have a coach?
Nope! Your coach can help you get your ducks in a row :-).
- What if I don’t have all the answers - can I still talk to you?
Absolutely! One of our roles as a coach is to support your clarity. There is great value in seeing what is clear versus what isn’t clear yet. Bring it all with you into the conversation.
- What is a conscious entrepreneur? How do I know if I am one?
A conscious entrepreneur is someone who wants to incorporate their deeply held values and their unique talents, gifts, abilities to make a difference in the world and get paid for it. If this sounds like you, even if you don’t know how to do it yet, you are one.
- Why do I need to look back over the year?
Taking Stock is an incredibly valuable way to examine your greatest lessons, victories and insights from the past 12 months. So much happens in a year, that it’s hard to keep track of everything you’ve learned and grown through. This process enables you to savor where you’ve been which builds greater confidence and clarity as you move toward the next 12 months.
- Do I really have to celebrate? Can’t I just buy myself a latte and keep it moving?
You don’t have to do anything. But you might consider – how much fun are you having? How much are you enjoying what you are doing? How much are you savoring the journey and everything that you are accomplishing? Are you able to see your progress or are you only focused on what you didn’t get done? Celebration gives us a chance to acknowledge and appreciate all we’ve done.
- Do I really have to go through the whole process of acknowledgment?
Yup! Trust me. It’s worth it, even if it’s uncomfortable. It’s so valuable to tell the truth about what you’ve done (it may be more than you think!) and what you haven’t done so that you can learn from it, without guilt or shame.
- What if I can’t or don’t want to talk to the person I need to get complete with?
If you aren’t able to talk with the person you need to get complete with, choose another action that you can take that will represent completing whatever needs to be resolved. If you don’t want to speak to them directly, you can create a ritual- you might make a donation in their name, plant a tree, or write a letter and burn it. Whatever you choose, remember – this is about letting go of any negative emotions or expressing any undelivered communication so that it’s not lingering on your mind or in your heart. Completion is an act of liberation.
- What do I do if I have multiple goals? How can I organize this in a way that’s manageable?
Start with the goals that are most important to you. You may have a lot things you want to do – great! See what’s most important for you to do first? Start there.
- Can I work on more than one goal at the same time?
Yes! We recommend you choose 1-3 goals for this process.
- Why should I limit this to 3 goals?
To support your FOCUS. Typically, when we’re trying to do more than 3 goals at once, our energy gets scattered, and you probably won’t be very effective at any of them. You may discover that focusing on your top 3 goals actually frees you up to achieve more than you would have otherwise.
- How do I prioritize? Which goal should come first?
Which goal holds the most energy and/or excitement for you? Start there.
- What if I can’t measure it? How do I know what success looks like?
Find a way to measure it! First, consider what is most important for you in the achievement of this goal. You can use quantitative indicators (i.e. numbers driven) and/or qualitative indicators (i.e. experience driven). Either way, it’s vital that you begin to think about how to actually measure your success. Your indicators help you decide what you ultimately want to pay attention to as you track your progress.
- How can I tell if my goal is really attainable? How do I evaluate my capacity?
One good way to start is to look and see – have I done anything like this before? If the answer is no, I suggest you start with a goal that represents the next meaningful step towards your vision, not necessarily the goal that represents your full vision. For example, as a new coach, you may want to have 30 private coaching clients. But your first goal might be “I enroll 2 coaching clients by July 15.” As you play towards that goal, you will learn all about what it takes to enroll two clients, which will then inform how you set your next goal on your way to enrolling 30.
When it comes to capacity. Use the insight of the Growing Edge to determine if you are behind your edge, over your edge or on your edge. Behind your edge – the goal feels flat and boring to you and really, really, easy to achieve. Over your edge – you’re terrified, overwhelmed, dropping the ball all over the place. On your edge – excited with a little nervous energy (like butterflies in your stomach), you’re trying to imagine what it will feel like to achieve this goal, and the constant thought of it makes you smile.
- What do you mean when you say “mindset”? I’m a positive person.
Your mindset is the culmination of the way you see yourself, other people, and the world. We all have thoughts, opinions, beliefs and conclusions that influence how we think, see and interact with the world. Sometimes we hold beliefs that empower us, sometimes we have beliefs that hold us back. Sometimes we know what we believe and sometimes certain beliefs are hidden from us. Taking an inventory of your mindset helps you determine if you need to incorporate working on it in your overall strategy.
- How do I know if I need to work on my mindset?
Here are some key indicators:
- You know you could be accomplishing more, if only you could get out of your head.
- You spend a lot of your time worrying about what’s going to go wrong, or doubting it’s going to work out.
- You feel “stuck” or “confused” a lot and don’t know what to do next.
- You don’t really believe that you could be successful, or you’re worried about what would happen if you were.
- You feel confident in your own skills but are afraid that others won’t support you.
- How do I know when I have knowledge gap?
Most people don’t know what they don’t know. Assume that you do have a gap if you’ve tried everything you know how to try and have not achieved the desired result. Or if you’ve set a goal but have no idea how you’re going to achieve it. Finally, your confidence level can also be an indicator of a knowledge gap. When something is new to you, it’s natural to feel less confident than if it’s something you’ve done a number of times before.
- How do I know what skills are required in order to achieve my goal?
Some may be obvious – to be an author, it would be important to have some skill with writing. Some may be less obvious, and might require you to either look at the people you admire who are doing something similar to what you want to do – what skills have they mastered? You may want to conduct research, you may want to talk with them – some of the skills that are crucial to their success may not be immediately obvious from the outside. Finally, pay attention to the things you’re being asked to do over and over -chances are, this is a skill you need to cultivate. Recognize that you’ll always be discovering new skills you need as you go.
- What is Social Capital?
Social Capital is high impact relationships that are rooted in common values, shared knowledge, skills, practices, vision, and intent.
- How do I build it?
There are a number of strategies for building Social Capital. From joining relevant Networks and Associations, to cultivating one-on-one opportunities with major influencers, your Social Capital strategy should consist of a series of practices that you engage over time to grow and strengthen your personal and professional community. Best practices for cultivating Social Capital include: give first; be in relationship; show genuine interest; and be clear about what you are looking for.
- I know a lot of people, how can I engage them?
Share your vision in a concise and compelling way. Be clear about what your vision aligns with their passions and interests. Make specific clear requests. Make it easy for them to participate; helpful materials; structured check ins; efficient processes; public recognition and acknowledgment and lots of FUN!
- I don’t know a lot of people- how do I find more?
Find networks, communities or associations of people that you’d love to meet. Search for groups who share your values and interests. Attend local, regional, national and international events that align with your interests. We will share information on all upcoming live and virtual events, so you can learn more about our amazing community.
- What’s the quickest and most efficient way to engage them?

- Can I list more than one goal here?
We recommend you start with one goal. You might want to create a separate 90 Day Action Plan for each goal.
- How does my 90 Day Action Plan work with my Needs Assessment and Smart Goals?
Your SMART goals go in section #1. Copy and paste one of your goals in there. Your needs assessment plugs right into section #4: Needs. You can highlight the needs in your needs assessment that are relevant to this particular goal.
- How do I stick to this structure when I have other demands from clients and customers that change everyday?
Block out a consistent time that you are willing to devote to executing your plan. It might be outside of the time that you book clients, to ensure that you can stick to it. It may also be helpful for you to get support, such as a buddy you make promises to each day about what you are willing to do, or a coach who will support you to stay on track with your milestones and timeline.
- How do I commit to my vital actions when I’m not sure where to start?
Ask – what’s most important for me to do first? Or which task feels easiest to me? Or which task holds the most excitement or energy? And do that. If you still aren’t clear, your first vital action might be to get support, whether it be talking it through with a friend, a peer, an advisor, or a coach.
- What is the difference between a vital action and a milestone?
A milestone is a strategic benchmark you set to support the achievement of your ultimate goal. You’ll likely have 2-3 of these, that help you focus and prioritize as you go along. A vital action is one task oriented step you take to accomplish your current milestone.
- Why are there only 3 practices?
We recommend you focus on only 3 Vital Practices to support focus and help ingrain the most important habits that will enable you to be successful. 3 vs. 5 or 6 helps you prioritize and gain greater leverage for your efforts.
- Can I include practices that support my self care (i.e. meditation , yoga, etc.)?
Yes AND We strongly recommend that at least one of your practices be rooted in self affirmation and self care.
